What facial coding costs in iMotions

In iMotions Lab, facial coding is the Facial Expression Analysis module, added to the mandatory CORE module. A commercial facial coding set-up is therefore at least two items on an annual subscription, with each module starting at $3,400 (€3,000) a year. You also need participants, a place or a way to record them, and someone to run and analyse the study. For webcam ad testing without the desktop software, iMotions sells Media Analytics through iMotions Online, priced by quote.

Is iMotions worth paying for?

iMotions earns its price when you need several biosensors on one synchronised timeline: eye tracking with EEG, GSR and facial coding, in a lab, run by your own researchers. If your question is how an audience responds to an ad, second by second, a managed study is usually simpler: you send the ad and get the report, and nobody on your team needs to license or learn the software. For the full comparison, see EchoDepth vs iMotions, and for other options, best facial coding software and the Affectiva alternative.

How EchoDepth pricing works instead

EchoDepth is ad and creative testing run for you. Real, consenting viewers from your audience watch the ad on their own webcam; we code their facial movements against 44 FACS Action Units and report the response second by second, with 15 or more viewers per audience segment. There is no software to license and no hardware to buy. We quote per study, based on how many ads you test, how many viewers you need and how hard your audience is to reach, and reply with a fixed quote within one working day. See EchoDepth pricing and how much ad testing costs across the market.
