How it works

Three steps, and the first one takes about two minutes.

  1. Join the panel

Tell us a little about yourself so we only invite you to studies you fit.

  2. Get an invitation

Each email says what the study involves, how long it takes and what it pays. Say yes or ignore it.

  3. Watch and answer

Watch the ads with your webcam on, answer a few questions, and you're paid when you finish.

What happens with your webcam

Your webcam is only on during a study you've agreed to, and only while the ads play. Software measures small movements of your face, such as a smile or raised eyebrows. Video of your face is not stored.

What we keep
Readings: the measurements of your expressions, and your answers. They're linked to a panel ID, not your name.
What we don't keep
Video or photos of your face. We don't use face recognition and we can't identify you from your readings.
Who sees you
No one. The brand gets results averaged across everyone in the study, never you individually.
Your consent
You agree to each study separately before the webcam turns on, and you can stop at any time.
Deleting your data
Leave the panel whenever you like and ask us to delete your readings.

Fill in the short form on this page to join the EchoDepth tester panel. When a study matches your profile, we email you an invitation showing what it involves and what it pays. You watch the ads on your laptop or desktop with your webcam on, answer a few questions, and get paid when you finish.

With EchoDepth, yes. It's free to join and we will never ask you to pay anything. We're Cavefish Ltd, a UK company (number 15127122) registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ZB915633). Each invitation tells you the payment before you start.

Your webcam feed is analysed while you watch so we can measure facial movements, such as a smile or raised eyebrows. Video of your face is not stored, and the advertiser never sees you. We keep the measurements, linked to a panel ID rather than your name.

Every invitation shows the payment and the expected length before you agree to take part. You are paid for each study you complete.

It depends on how many studies match your profile. Filling in your region, work and interests helps us invite you to more. You can ignore any invitation you don't want.

Most studies need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, so the ad plays at a consistent size and your face is easy to track. Tell us when you sign up if you only have a phone or tablet.

No. Studies run in your web browser. When a study starts, your browser asks for permission to use the webcam, and you can say no.

Most studies take 10 to 20 minutes: a few short ads followed by some quick questions. Some studies also send two short questions the next day, to see how you feel about the ad once the moment has passed. That takes a minute.

Yes, at any time. You can decline any study, stop part-way through, or ask us to delete your account and data. We keep your readings (the measurements of your expressions and your answers), never video, and we delete them when you leave the panel.
