Pharma — Concept Testing, Global FMCG

Confidential client · EMEA deployment

Challenge. The client was running traditional focus groups to test a new product concept ahead of launch, but needed to know whether verbal approval reflected genuine reception or social-desirability bias in the room.

Approach. EchoDepth Insight ran alongside the client's existing focus-group protocol, with no change to their research design. It captured FACS-based facial emotion data and VAD (Valence, Arousal, Dominance) scoring during stimulus exposure — the same methodology described on our platform page.

Result. Emotional signal data revealed significant suppression of negative response at stimulus exposure — masked by social desirability in verbal responses. The insight changed the go/no-go decision on one concept variant.

Employee Sentiment — Financial Services

UK · FCA-regulated institution

Challenge. The client's engagement survey scores looked healthy at an aggregate level, but leadership suspected pockets of unreported dissatisfaction that standard pulse surveys weren't surfacing.

Approach. EchoDepth Insight was deployed during manager communications sessions and all-hands meetings across a 2,400-person organisation. It captured real-time sentiment divergence from stated engagement scores. See our employee sentiment methodology for how this measurement works.

Result. The programme identified three teams with critical suppression indices not visible in the client's existing Glint data — signal that would otherwise have gone undetected until it surfaced as attrition.

FMCG — Packaging Research

UK · Consumer packaged goods

Challenge. A major FMCG brand needed to choose between competing packaging redesigns ahead of a national rollout, and wanted a signal independent of what participants said they preferred.

Approach. EchoDepth Insight provided frame-by-frame emotional scoring as participants viewed each design. This is the same FACS Action Unit tracking used across our FMCG research work — It revealed preference signal invisible to verbal rating tasks.

Result. The emotionally preferred design differed from the stated preferred design in 40% of participants — a gap large enough to change which design the client took to market.
